Over nearly 100 friends, family, local residents along with six of the Original 21ers gathered at Alden Park on Mare Island to unveil a memorial that honors the men who filed a historic civil rights complaint 49 years ago.

Several of the Original 21ers spoke during the emotional ceremony remembering their struggle for promotions, equal wages and proper recognition for their work at the Mare Island Shipyard.
